Media group Sony Pictures Networks India has signed up as the broadcast partner for the Super Fight League, India’s first mixed martial arts promotion.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but SPN will broadcast the inaugural edition of the league which is set to feature eight franchises in competition from January 20 to February 25.
The fights will be broadcast live on the Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD channels, while the opening ceremony will be shown live on Sony Max.
SPN has also acquired broadcast rights for the league across Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan and the Maldives.
Bill Dosanjh, chief executive and principal founder of the Super Fight League, said: “Having Sony as the broadcast partner will help us in our endeavour to reach the maximum variety of audience and make Super Fight League a household name for MMA in India.”
