Portuguese pay-television broadcaster Sport TV has acquired the pay-television rights to the 2014 winter Olympic Games in Sochi and the 2016 summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Sport TV said that it would provide the most extensive coverage of the Olympics offered to date by a Portuguese broadcaster.
Sport TV acquired the rights from the Sportfive agency.
Sportfive holds the rights for the 2014 and 2016 Olympics in 40 European markets in a deal that guaranteed the International Olympic Committee €236.5m ($320.2m).
Further deals in the country for free-to-air coverage are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
