German sports broadcaster Sport1 has acquired rights to the Virtuellen Bundesliga (VBL), the official esports competition of the German Football League (DFL).
In the VBL, gamers compete against each other on the Fifa 17 game, which is developed by EA Sports.
Sport1 has struck the exclusive agreement with EA Sports to present live coverage of this season’s VBL finale, which will take place at the German Football Museum in Dortmund on April 15-16.
Coverage will be streamed live via Sport1.com in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, while fans will also be able to follow the action via the broadcaster’s official pages on social media platform Facebook and video-sharing website YouTube.
Sport1 replaces Sky Deutschland as the VBL’s rights-holder, with the pay-television broadcaster having covered last year’s season-ending event.
