German sports channel Sport1 started streaming live basketball games online via its own channel on video-sharing website YouTube on December 10.
Sport1 is showing Bundesliga and Euroleague basketball games live through to early January, with the programmes shown simultaneously with Sport1’s live coverage via television, online and mobile. In September, Sport1’s live streaming was made available via Apple iPad and iPhone mobile devices.
Production company Plazamedia is the producer of the coverage, which will include interviews and game preview material.
Sport1’s YouTube channel launched in February. In May, the channel broadcast the first ever live sport on YouTube in Germany with coverage of the TSV Hannover v Bugdorf handball game.
