Sport1 US, the US-focused sports pay-television channel that is operated by German commercial broadcaster Sport1, has acquired rights for the North American NHL ice hockey league.
The deal will run for two years, from 2014-15 to 2015-16, and cover Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Sport1 US has secured live and exclusive rights to at least 60 games per season on a platform-neutral basis.
The Advisers Media International and Medge agencies brokered the deal.
The coverage will have English-language commentary.
The channel, which was launched last year by Sport1, already features the NFL American football league, the NBA basketball league and North America’s Major League Baseball.
