The Confederation of African Football, the continental governing body for football in Africa, has agreed a 12-year extension to its media and marketing rights partnership with the Sportfive agency.
The agreement, which runs from 2017 to 2028, allows Sportfive to continue to commercialise the marketing and media rights of the main regional football competitions in Africa, including national team events the Cup of Nations and Nations Championship, along with club competition the Champions League.
Sportfive said the deal reinforces the dominant position of its parent company Lagardère Unlimited in the business of football globally, and highlights the strength of the group in maintaining and building long-term strategic partnerships with key rights holders.
“We strongly believe that the African continent is a source of significant growth for our business activities in the coming years and this partnership renewal with CAF is a perfect example of this vision,” Arnaud Lagardère, on behalf of the Lagardère Group, Lagardère Unlimited and Sportfive, said.
