Sportradar expands CEV rights deal to include Tokyo 2020 qualifiers

Data provider and media company Sportradar has been appointed by the European Volleyball Federation (CEV) to sell the media rights for the upcoming European qualifying competitions ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The new arrangement marks an expansion of an existing agreement between Sportradar and the CEV.

Sportradar was already the exclusive global media rights distributor for the CEV Champions League before supporting the launch of the federation’s EuroVolley.tv OTT streaming platform nearly a year ago.

The latest deal covers rights for both the men’s and women’s competitions, which will run from January 5-12, 2020. The men’s tournament will take place in Berlin, Germany, while the women’s competition will be staged in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands.

A total of 30 matches will be available produced in high definition, with a three-minute highlights package available to media partners shortly after each contest.

The CEV originally secured a rights distribution partnership with the Sportsman Media Group in 2007, but the agency was acquired by Sportradar in 2016.
