Sports and betting-related services company Sportradar has been named as the official international media rights distribution partner of eFootball.Pro, an esports company founded by Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué.
As part of the multi-year deal, Sportradar will market the rights for matches played in a new league that eFootball.Pro is launching in partnership with video game developer Konami.
Sportradar will also distribute match-day previews and analysis, highlights, news, interviews, reports and other audiovisual content relating to the league. The company will also be responsible for the production of this content, including live face-to-face matches.
Specific details of the league have not yet been revealed but Sportradar said the competition would feature “top-notch teams” and become a “model” in the esports space.
As part of its collaboration with eFootball.Pro, Sportradar will also be responsible for the distribution of other esports events that are organised by its parent company, Esports Media Rights (EMR). Sportradar said EMR’s competitions will focus on other sports, with one of the tournaments to be unveiled soon.
eFootball.Pro belongs to the EMR group. It was founded and is headed by Barcelona defender Piqué (pictured), and run by Javier Alonso as managing director.
