The Sportsman Media Group agency has retained live transmission rights to Germany’s Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga, the top two divisions of domestic club football, for exploitation to betting service providers.
Rights have been awarded for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons on a global basis, with the exception of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, San Marino and Vatican City.
Matches can be broadcast live in sports betting shops and via online platforms for registered active users.
Although financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, it was confirmed that licence revenue per season has increased five-fold compared with the current licence period.
Sportsman acquired the rights from DFL Sports Enterprises, the commercial arm of the German Football League (DFL). The rights for non-German-speaking territories have been sold in a separate package since the 2009-10 season.
