Sports agency SportTV Rights has rejected claims made by the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) that it was not supplying the rights fee payments to the country top-tier Primera División.
In a letter to the FBF, SportTV Rights general manager Jose Luis Quiroga expressed his surprise at what he called the “dishonest attitude of [the FBF] staff”.
He said that the company had fully complied with the fee requests made by the FBF.
The response came after Jorge Mastajo, an external adviser to the FBF, made comments in a press conference suggesting that SportTV Rights needed to transfer funds for the December payment to clubs.
In the letter published by Bolivian newspaper Correo del Sur, Quiroga remarked: “We regret the irresponsible actions of the external lawyer Jorge Mastajo, to avoid responsibilities of your institution and intending to discredit our company.”
SportTV Rights’ current deal is worth $4.1m (€3.7m) per season and expires at the end of the 2020 season.
The FBF recently reclaimed control over the Primera División rights from 2021 onwards. The rights reclamation will strip the league’s 14 clubs of negotiating their own broadcast rights in favour of placing the collective negotiating power with the FBF.
