Indian sports marketing company Sporty Solutionz has launched WrestlingTV, a video and news platform aimed at Indian wrestling fans.
The platform will carry live streaming coverage and highlights of United World Wrestling events, including World Championships, World Cups, Continental Championships, and Ranking Series events. Sporty Solutionz is the exclusive media rights partner of the UWW, wrestling’s world governing body, in the Indian subcontinent. WrestlingTV will also carry content from the Wrestling Federation of India, with which Sporty Solutionz has an exclusive rights deal.
The platform will carry 120 days of live streaming content in its first year, according to the press release announcing the service. It launched on Saturday, September 14, to coincide with the start of the UWW Senior World Wrestling Championships 2019 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
WrestlingTV will carry 100 hours of live content from the championships. It has a production crew reporting from the event, including former Indian Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Kripa Shankar who is providing analysis of the bouts.
As well as live streams and highlights, WrestlingTV’s content will include news, behind-the-scenes content, interviews and documentaries.
In the press release, Ashish Chadha, Sporty Solutionz CEO, said: “With wrestling making rapid strides in India, there has been a surge in the demand for the sport. The launch of WrestlingTV will bring fans closer to the sport and is a big step forward for us as we aim to make wrestling the next big thing in Indian sports.”
UWW president Nenad Lalovic said: “We know wrestling is big in India and India is a huge potential market. This WrestlingTV platform and our association with Sporty Solutionz will take the sport to the next level and there could not have been a better beginning then the World Championships.”
