Online streaming website Spox.com, owned by digital sports media company Perform, has acquired the live German broadcast rights to one game from each day of the EuroBasket 2013 national team basketball competition in Slovenia.
The website will stream free live coverage of one “top” game from each day of the tournament under the terms of the deal.
This service will include live coverage of the German national team’s group stage games against France and Ukraine on September 4 and 6 respectively.
The two games had been left without a broadcast partner after German public-service broadcaster ARD acquired the rights for Germany’s other preliminary matches against Belgium, Great Britain and Israel.
ARD will also show additional Germany games, subject to the team qualifying for latter rounds of the competition.
The ARD deal means basketball will return to free-to-air television in Germany for the first time in 10 years. EuroBasket 2013 takes place from September 4-22.
