Swiss public-service broadcaster SRG SSR has extended a rights deal for the annual Weltklasse Zürich track and field athletics event in Switzerland for four years, from 2013 to 2016.
Under the deal, SRG SSR will continue to show the event in Switzerland, and will produce coverage for all international broadcasters.
SRG SSR agreed the deal directly with the organisers of the event, according to the Suedostschweiz news website.
The event is part of the International Association of Athletics Federations’ Diamond League series, the top tier of annual athletics meetings.
“The contract extension underlines the great importance of athletics and Swiss sporting events,” SRG’s head of sport, Urs Leutert, said.
