Pay-television broadcaster Star Sports has acquired rights to Ultimate Table Tennis, a new franchise-based league that is being launched in India.
Star Sports will serve as the official broadcast partner of the inaugural season of India’s first professional table tennis league, which will run from July 13-30.
Star Sports Select 2 HD and Star Sports Select 2 will televise games, while UTT will also be live streamed by the Hotstar digital platform.
UTT is being run by the 11Even Sports company with support from the Table Tennis Federation of India. The inaugural season will be played in the cities of Chennai, New Delhi and Mumbai and will include six franchises.
Leading players to have signed up for the league include Wu Yang, Wong Chun Ting (pictured), Han Ying, Marcos Freitas, Doo Hoi Kem and Stefan Fegerl.
