Sports producer and distributor Sunset+Vine has landed the host broadcaster contract for the 2018 World Equestrian Games.
The event will take place at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in the US state of North Carolina from September 11-23.
Sunset+Vine has been awarded the contract by local organising bodies, the TIEC and Tryon Equestrian Partners.
Under the terms of the deal, Sunset+Vine will provide comprehensive live coverage from Tryon, as well as a daily highlights show. Sunset+Vine will also be responsible for covering the opening ceremony on September 11
International Equestrian Federation (FEI) president Ingmar De Vos said: “The broadcast figures for the previous edition of the Games in Normandy four years ago were really impressive, and we are sure that the professionalism of the Sunset+Vine team and the stunning venue at Tryon will combine to showcase our sport around the world through the reach of global broadcasters such as NBC and the Olympic Channel.”
The showpiece is projected to be the highest-attended sporting event in the US this year. It also has the potential to be the largest sporting event in North Carolina history with over $400m (€339m) of projected economic impact over its 13-day duration.
