The Swiss ice hockey association has renewed its deals with media group Cinetrade and SRG SSR, the public-service broadcaster, for rights to the domestic league and national team matches, for a further five years, from 2012-13 to 2016-17.
Cinetrade has acquired rights to all matches from the National League A, the top-tier domestic league, and all matches of the Swiss national team, excluding the World Championships. Cinetrade will exploit the rights on its Teleclub pay-television channels.
SRG SSR has acquired the rights to show three live matches from the end of season play-offs – one each from the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final – of the domestic league.
Under the previous deal, the public-service broadcaster was only able to show two live matches from the quarter-final stage. It will continue to show highlights coverage from the regular season within its daily evening sports programmes.
SRG SSR will handle the production of all National League A matches, providing the feed to Cinetrade.
