Telkom Media gives up Supersport battle

Telkom owns 66 per cent in the business, which it hoped would become a competitor to Naspers’ Multichoice, owner of the Supersport channels.

The company said that it had “reduced its operational expenses and commitments to a minimum” after “an extensive process to identify potential buyers…proved unsuccessful.” Media reports had suggested suitors included China’s Shenzen Media and South African state pension fund Public Investment Corporation.
