Tender process for new Uefa rights window widens to two Asian nations

The CAA Eleven agency has opened a number of tenders in Singapore and Taiwan for media rights to football properties of European governing body Uefa, including the new Nations League tournament.

The tender package for the two Asian countries includes the European qualifiers for the Euro 2020 and 2022 Fifa World Cup national team tournaments, the Euro 2020 finals, the 2018-19 and 2020-21 Nations League competitions and other international matches. The deadline for bids has been set for August 24.

CAA Eleven has previously only opened a tender for the European qualifiers for the Euro 2020 and 2022 Fifa World Cup national team tournaments, the 2018-19 and 2020-21 Nations League competitions and other international matches in the Middle East and North Africa. That tender process expired on June 4.

In December, Uefa extended the remit of CAA Eleven, its exclusive marketing agency for the sale of certain media and commercial rights relating to its national team football competitions, to include the new Nations League.

The Executive Committee of European football’s governing body approved an agreement with CAA Eleven to reflect Uefa’s new sporting concept for national team football for the period 2018-2022.

The Nations League received the unanimous backing of all 54 Uefa member associations at a meeting in March 2014. The competition is designed to enhance the attractiveness of national team friendlies and will replace a number of windows set aside for such games.

CAA Eleven has also opened a bidding process in Singapore and Taiwan for the rights to Euro 2016 and certain European qualifiers for that tournament and the 2018 Fifa World Cup. This tender also closes on August 24.
