French commercial broadcaster TF1 has retained exclusive media rights for France national football team friendly matches and qualifiers for the 2018 Fifa World Cup tournament.
The deal will run for four years, from 2014-15 to 2017-18.
TF1 did not disclose financial details of the deal, but according to French newspaper l’Equipe, the broadcaster agreed to pay €140m ($192m), or about €4.1m per match, for the rights.
The agreement covers all media platforms.
The deal was brokered on behalf of football’s European governing body Uefa by the CAA Eleven agency, which launched invitations to tender for the media rights in September.
In November, TF1’s chief executive Nonce Paolini said that the France national team rights were “not indispensable” and added that the price must be “reasonable” for the broadcaster to renew the rights.
Unlike other teams, France will not have qualifying games for Uefa Euro 2016 as it is hosting the national team tournament.
