Chinese media group Ti’ao Power has secured a new four-season rights deal with the Chinese Football Association for its CFA Cup and CFA Super Cup club competitions, while Le Sports, which is operated by Chinese internet company LeTV, has reportedly acquired rights to the Chinese Super League.
The CFA today (Friday) confirmed that Ti’ao Power’s latest contract will run across the 2016 to 2019 seasons of the two competitions. The CFA Cup is Chinese football’s annual knockout tournament, while the Super Cup is a pre-season game pitting the holders of the Super League and CFA Cup against each other.
In September, Ti’ao Power acquired the domestic broadcast and production rights to the Super League in a five-season deal, from 2016 to 2020.
In other news, the Caixin.com website said Le Sports has acquired the exclusive internet media rights to the Super League for its 2016 and 2017 seasons. The deal will reportedly be worth up to RMB2.7bn (€367.6m/$410.8m) and is to be formally announced at a later date.
