Telco TIM has enhanced its association with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) by agreeing a wide-ranging two-season deal encompassing media and sponsorship rights focusing on the women’s game.
TIM agreed a four-year extension to its top-tier sponsorship of the FIGC in April. The new deal will see it become title sponsor of the women’s Serie A and of the main competitions organised by the Federation’s women’s football division for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons.
In addition, TIM TV will broadcast all six matches from each Serie A round, five of which will live and the other provided on a delayed basis. Coverage will commence from November 2.
TIM’s OTT platform, TIMVision, will also become the ‘official channel of the FIGC’ broadcasting content that is not held by the Federation’s broadcast partners, public-service broadcaster Rai and pay-television broadcaster Sky.
FIGC president Gabriele Gravina said: “With TIMVision we are launching a technological platform that will allow fans to follow all the Serie A women’s matches, but also those of the national youth teams and our ‘legends’. The relationship with TIM enhances several…areas of interest of great importance for the development of the world of football, both in technical and value terms.”
TIM chief executive Luigi Gubitosi added: “We are the sponsor of the national team in all its forms and we have several variations of this passion. Women’s football is expanding day by day and we will do our part to support the movement.”
