Danish commercial broadcaster TV2 has acquired rights to a number of national team handball tournaments operated by the International Handball Federation and European Handball Federation.
TV2 has reached a sublicensing agreement with Swedish media company Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group), which acquired the rights in the Nordic markets yesterday (Tuesday).
The exclusive rights deal covers the men’s and women’s World Championship in 2019 and 2021, along with the European Championships in 2022, 2024 and 2026 – an agreement that covers 10 events in total.
The tournaments will be covered via the TV2 and TV2 Sport television channels, as well as being streamed via TV2 Play.
Denmark is due to co-host the men’s World Championship with Germany next year. The country will also co-host the women’s Euro with Norway in 2020.
