TVG to rebrand HRTV

TVG will rebrand HRTV, a pay-television broadcaster acquired by the US horse racing broadcaster in February from gambling and horse racing company the Stronach Group.

HRTV will be rebranded as TVG2, with its hrtv.com website also being renamed as tvg2.com.

TVG is a subsidiary of online betting exchange Betfair. TVG said the move would enable it to “better leverage its television production infrastructure to provide improved horse racing television products to consumers and television distributors alike.”

Under the acquisition, TVG secured television rights to racecourses owned and operated by the Stronach Group for seven years.

The television operations of HRTV have been combined with those of TVG, with Betfair owning 100 per cent of the equity in the unified television platform.

Kip Levin, chief executive of TVG, said: “We’ve made good progress in integrating the two television productions, and integrating the brands was the logical next step in the process to optimise television coverage for horseracing.”
