TVP invests in women’s tennis

Polish public-service broadcaster TVP has acquired rights for tournaments operated by the Women’s Tennis Association, the leading professional women’s tennis tour, according to the Tenis.net.pl news website.

The length of the deal, which starts immediately and was struck directly with the tour, was not disclosed.

The report said that coverage of the matches would be shown on the TVP2 and TVP2 HD channels as well as the TVP Sport channel.

TVP will be able to show women’s tennis matches featuring Polish player Agnieszka Radwanska, who is currently ranked as the fourth best women’s tennis player in the world.

News of the deal emerged after TVP broadcast live coverage of Radwanska’s semi-final and final in the WTA Sydney International event last week.
