Cycling’s global governing body, the Union Cycliste Internationale, has announced plans to start showing live coverage of its events for free via video-sharing website YouTube.
Starting with the 2013 Cyclo-cross World Championships on February 2-3, the UCI will offer live coverage and highlights of its top events on its dedicated YouTube channel.
Viewers will be able to access the coverage worldwide, excluding territories where broadcast deals for the events have been agreed.
The UCI’s future World Championships in road, track and BMX cycling, as well as World Cup events in cyclo-cross, track and BMX will also be shown live online.
The UCI said that it would also announce the platform for live coverage of future mountain bike and trial events soon.
