Uefa, football’s European governing body, has launched invitations to tender for rights covering several of its competitions in various territories.
Bids for the rights to the Champions League and Europa League club tournaments in Italy and Israel must be submitted by February 5 and February 10, respectively.
The rights for the Champions League cover three seasons, from 2015-16 to 2017-18 and include four editions of the annual Super Cup match, from 2015 to 2018, between the winners of the previous season’s Champions League and Europa League. The rights for the Europa League also run for the same three-year period.
Separate invitations to tender have been launched in the Philippines and Taiwan for the Euro 2016 national team tournament and the European qualifiers for Euro 2016 and the 2018 Fifa World Cup national team competition. All of the bids are due in by January 29. The tender has been reissued in the Philippines after the original sales process in November was postponed when the region was struck by Typhoon Haiyan.
Additionally a tender for the rights to European qualifiers for four years, from 2014-15 to 2017-18, was launched in Malta, with bids due in by January 28. The rights exclude live matches featuring the Malta national team.
The CAA Eleven agency will handle the sales processes for Euro 2016 and the European qualifiers, while the Team Marketing agency will be responsible for the sales processes for the Champions League and Europa League. The rights cover all platforms.
