Uefa, European football’s governing body, has agreed rights deals in the Ukraine for the Champions League and Europa League, and in Albania for the Champions League, for the 2012-13 to 2014-15 period.
Commercial and pay-television broadcaster Media Group Ukraine and commercial broadcaster Media Group 1+1 have both acquired rights in Ukraine to both competitions. Both broadcasters will show one live match per week from each competition, plus highlights.
Media Group Ukraine’s coverage will be on free-to-air channel ‘Ukraine’ and the pay-television channel ‘Football’. Media Group 1+1’s coverage will be on the 1+1 and 2+2 channels.
In Albania, pay-television broadcaster DigitAlb has acquired all rights to the Champions League. DigitAlb will show five live matches each match night across its Supersport channel bouquet, plus highlights.
Uefa plans to sell another package of rights in Albania, covering live rights for the first-pick Wednesday Champions League match – held non-exclusively with DigitAlb – and highlights.
All the deals included mobile and internet rights.
The deals were brokered by the Team Marketing agency, Uefa’s global sales agent for the media rights for both competitions.
