Rogers Sportsnet will broadcast preliminary fights of UFC pay-per-view events, UFC fight night events and reality television series The Ultimate Fighter. In addition, Sportsnet will broadcast live UFC events taking place outside North America. Rogers Sportsnet has broadcast UFC programming for the past four years.
UFC president Dana White also confirmed that Zuffa, the UFC’s owners, acquired rival mixed martial arts organisation Strikeforce. The purchase follows buyouts of Japan-based Pride Fighting Championships in 2007 and World Extreme Cagefighting in 2006.
