UK telco BT has appointed Andy Haworth as managing director of Sports Rights and Commercial.
Haworth will manage BT’s sports rights portfolio and its commercial business in the newly-created role.
He previously led BT Consumer’s strategy and content teams, with responsibility for broadcast rights for both BT TV and BT Sport.
SportBusiness Media understands that the new role limits his previous responsibilities to just BT Sport.
He will report to Marc Allera, chief executive of BT’s Consumer division.
The announcement follows the recent departure of BT’s head of commercial sports rights, Steve Norris.
