US camera manufacturer GoPro has extended and expanded its partnership with Velon, the umbrella group of professional cycling teams.
The two-year renewal will cover the 2016 and 2017 cycling seasons. The two parties first teamed up during the 2015 campaign – the first multi-team partnership and content capture deal in the history of professional road cycling.
Under the agreement, GoPro’s Hero4 Session cameras will be used to capture on-bike and behind-the-scenes footage of each of Velon’s 11 teams. GoPro will show the content on its digital and social media platforms.
The new partnership will see double the amount of cameras used by Velon compared to the 2015 season.
Velon chief executive Graham Bartlett said: “This two year deal is helping us open up the world of professional cycling even further, creating more content and increasing behind the scenes accessibility.”
