Dutch commercial broadcaster Veronica has extended a deal for free-to-air rights for football’s Uefa Champions League.
The deal will cover the next three seasons, from 2018-19 to 2020-21.
Veronica’s parent company, commercial broadcaster SBS, was acquired by media company Talpa last year.
Talpa sealed the latest rights deal with Team Marketing, the agency distributing rights on behalf of Uefa, football’s European governing body.
The Marketing Tribune news platform said that the rights fee is lower than the range of between €17m ($20m) and €25m per season secured under the previous deal, given that Dutch football clubs will not qualify automatically for the Champions League from next season, with champion PSV Eindhoven entering the competition in the play-off round.
