French local digital terrestrial broadcaster ViàOccitanie has acquired exclusive rights to the country’s top-tier rugby league competition, the Elite One Championship.
The deal, which runs for the three seasons from 2019-20 to 2021-22, also includes rights to other league and cup competitions organised by rights-holder the French Rugby League Federation.
ViàOccitanie will show seventeen live matches, including the Elite One Championship’s five ‘Magic Weekend’ matches, scheduled for November 16 and 17 and the competition’s Grand Final. The broadcaster will also show the Grand Final for the second-tier Elite Two Championship as well as the final of the Lord Derby Cup knock-out competition.
ViàOccitanie is based in the South of France, the region of the country where rugby league is most popular.
