Pay-television platform Virgin TV will offer live coverage of this Saturday’s Uefa Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid in 4K ultra-high definition.
Virgin TV will show UK pay-television broadcaster BT Sport’s coverage of the match as part of a trial. It will be the first time that Virgin TV has offered live coverage of a football match in 4K.
Full House Virgin TV customers with a V6 box can watch the game on BT Sport 2 HD and will be presented with the option of watching in ultra-high definition on both BT Sport 1 HD and BT Sport 2 HD by pressing the red button on their remote control.
Virgin TV customers with a V6 set-top box will also be able to watch the game in the format via Virgin Media’s showcase channel. The V6 box already allows subscribers to watch Netflix and YouTube in 4K.
David Bouchier, chief digital entertainment officer at Virgin Media, said: “Showing this game in ultra-HD is another example of our fantastic sports offering and look out for more exciting announcements to come in the near future.”
