The Chinese Football Association, the sport’s governing body in China, has appointed digital media company VisionChina to deliver live coverage of the country’s Super League top tier on mobile platforms.
The deal will run for five years, from 2013-14 to 2017-18.
VisionChina will work with state-owned CCTV and internet company Sina to deliver live coverage of the league to viewers with mobile devices on public transport.
“So far, we have developed six programs to capture highlights of the games, broadcast live matches, provide real-time updates, and also share news of individual football clubs, with the aim of bringing the enthusiasm and culture of football to a wide range of audiences,” Limin Li, VisionChina Media’s chairman and chief executive officer, said. “We will soon launch our interactive platform, VisionChina Media – CSL, to enable audiences to interact in real-time with CSL matches and campaigns broadcasted on mobile TV through their smartphones. Bus and subway commuters will be able to obtain CSL news, match results and statistics, and join online games. We believe the combination of our digital television network and interactive application will enhance the fun experience for our audiences and yield greater value for our advertisers.”
