Turf TV, the horseracing channel for betting shops in the UK and Ireland, has struck a deal to show its coverage of US racing in bookmaker William Hill’s betting shops.
Under the deal, live coverage from some of US racing’s most famous tracks, including Gulfstream Park, Laurel Park, Santa Anita and Pimlico Racecourse, will be shown in William Hill’s 2,400 betting shops in the UK.
According to Adrian Ford, the managing director of Turf TV’s parent company, Amalgamated Racing, told the Daily Telegraph newspaper that the channel would become William Hill’s “exclusive supplier of US racing from February 2014,” but the length of the deal was not disclosed.
Turf TV, a joint venture between 34 leading UK racecourses and investor Joe Lewis, struck a profit-sharing deal last year with US racecourse owner Stronach Group to show racing from its tracks.
Ford added that the deal would give William Hill’s betting shop customers “competitive racing packaged specifically for a UK market throughout the evening, every night of the week.”
