Indian pay-television broadcaster Neo Sports and new sports television channel DSport have acquired rights to the World Touring Car Championship motor-racing series.
The agreements cover the 2017 WTCC season, which gets underway in Marrakech, Morocco on April 7-9.
Neo Sports, which is also available in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, will broadcast a 24-minute highlights programme following each WTCC event.
DSport, which was launched last week by international media and entertainment company Discovery Communications, will show all 20 WTCC races on a delayed basis.
The deals were brokered by Eurosport Events, the series’ promoter. François Ribeiro, head of Eurosport Events, said: “India has one of the world’s largest economies so to be able to showcase the WTCC and its stakeholders in this important market place is a very significant development.”
