Telco Telia’s extension of its exclusive rights deal for Finland’s SM-Liiga will see the league’s rights fee continue to escalate until the end of 2026-27.

Telco Telia has extended its agreement for rights to Finland’s SM-Liiga, the top ice hockey league in the country, from 2024-25 to 2026-27.

Finland’s SM-Liiga defied expectations by substantially increasing the value of its media rights last week thanks to telco Telia’s entrance into the Finnish sports media-rights market.

The Commercial Sports Media agency is confident it can grow the value of SM-Liiga domestic media rights despite a tricky local market. CSM was last week appointed as the top-tier Finnish ice hockey league’s adviser.
