US broadcast network ABC will air five matches from the 2020 European Championship next summer. This will include two group stage matches, two round-of-16 games and one quarter-final.
ESPN will televise 39 Euro 2020 matches – including the final and both semi-finals – while ESPN2 will air seven, with all 51 matches streamed live on both the ESPN and ABC apps. It also means that none of the games will be put behind the ESPN+ subscription paywall.
It was also announced that every ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC match telecast will feature a pregame, halftime and postgame reaction show. A new program EURO Tonight will air each matchday following the last match of the day on ESPN or ESPN2, while there will be additional coverage on ESPN’s flagship news and information program SportsCenter.
In 2016, ESPN acquired exclusive English-language rights in the US to Euro 2020, having shown the previous three editions of the tournament. ABC has not aired European Championship matches since 2008.
