Pay-television broadcaster Al Jazeera is considering a shortlist of four companies for the role of advertising sales partner for its two sports channels in France that are set to launch this summer.
The candidates are: French public-service broadcaster France Télévisions; French media conglomerate Lagardère; French commercial broadcaster TF1; and the Amaury Sport Organisation agency. All four have signed confidentiality agreements in order to participate in the tender, according to Stratégies magazine.
The contract is for three years, from 2012-13 to 2014-15, covering both channels, a website and mobile services. The channels will be called Be in Sport 1 and Be in Sport 2, with a target demographic of males aged 25-49, according to reports.
Al Jazeera has already appointed Spanish agency Mediapro to handle the “technical workflow” of the channels.
