American cinema chain AMC Theatres has announced it will air select out-of-market Sunday NFL games at a number of participating venues across the United States this season.
Tickets for screenings are free but customers must purchase a $10 prepaid event food and beverage card. The initiative is also only for members of the AMC Stubs loyalty program, though that is free to join.
Due to the rights of local broadcast affiliates, only out-of-market NFL games are allowed to be screened. Participating AMC Theatres will offer up to four out-of-market games on Sundays. The chain intends to select the games shown in each theatre on the Friday night prior to each Sunday of NFL play.
It is unclear if AMC Theatres and the NFL have entered into a formal partnership on the project, which began Sept. 8.
