German public-service broadcasters ARD and ZDF have agreed a four-year extension to their rights agreement with the German Equestrian Federation (FN).
The new contract was struck between the FN and SportA, the sports-rights agency that represents ARD and ZDF. It will run through to the 2020 summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
The agreement includes IPTV, web and mobile rights and covers at least 13 leading equestrian events staged in Germany.
FN general secretary Soenke Lauterbach said: “Horse sport has developed very positively in the past year. We were extremely successful at the (2016) Olympics and Paralympics, we've had great tournament events, and for the first time we have seen an increase in our membership figures.”
