Jean-Thierry Augustin is to step down from his role as president, sports and Olympics development, at media company Discovery Networks International in order to pursue new ventures.
Augustin has been in the position for two years, prior to which he spent almost 15 years with international sports broadcaster Eurosport, including a spell as chief executive from April 2013 to March 2015.
Augustin played a major role in the acquisition and integration of Eurosport by Discovery Communications, which also owns Discovery Networks International.
“With the side of the business focused on the Olympics on track and proving profitable, I feel that my mission is accomplished, and that it is time to move on to new ventures,” Augustin said.
Jean-Briac Perrette, president and chief executive of Discovery Networks International, added: “Jean-Thierry is a savvy commercial leader and played a crucial role in developing our successful bid and commercial strategy for the Olympics, which is already exceeding expectations.”
