UK public-service broadcaster the BBC has extended a rights deal for the annual Boat Race between the universities of Cambridge and Oxford in the UK.
The deal will run for seven years, from 2015 to 2021.
The agreement includes coverage of the women’s race as well as the men’s race. The women’s race will be staged on the same day and on the same course as the men’s race for the first time in 2015.
The BBC struck the deal with the Boat Race Company, which operates the event.
Flagship channel BBC One will provide live coverage of the 2014 Boat Race on Sunday, April 6.
