Al Jazeera-owned pay-television broadcaster beIN Sport has launched in the US after securing a carriage deal with satellite pay-television broadcaster DirecTV.
The English-language version of beIN Sport is now on offer in high and standard definition as part of DirecTV’s Sports Pack package.
A Spanish-language version of the channel, beIN Sport En Español, will be added to DirecTV’s Hispanic packages.
Some of the programming will also be offered online.
BeIN Sport will offer coverage of top domestic football leagues such as the Spanish Liga, Italian Serie A and French Ligue 1, as well as South American Fifa World Cup qualifiers and the Copa America national team football tournament.
“DirecTV recognises the passion of its international sports fans. No other channel will have our games, our leagues or our matches,” beIN Sport US managing director Yousef Al Obaidly said. “BeIN Sport’s exclusive rights mean we are the ultimate destination for the avid fan to the general sports enthusiast who want to see professional international sports action.”
Al Jazeera launched beIN Sport in France in June.
