Ice Cube’s Big3 basketball league is looking for a new television deal following the end of a two-year contract with Fox Sports.
The three-on-three, half-court competition involving former NBA players has been fielding interest from other broadcasters and hopes to have a new TV home by June, when its third season tips off.
Fox Sports said in a statement: “Fox Sports enjoyed working with Big3 during its first two seasons, and we wish them the best moving forward.”
Big3 is growing from eight to 12 teams, will widen its tour from 10 to 18 cities and has lowered the age threshold to 27 from 30 to allow more players into the league.
It also appears that Big3’s attempts to buy some or all of the Fox regional sports networks is on the verge of collapse. Big3 reportedly approached Viacom for financial help to purchase the RSNs but were rebuffed.
