UK-pay-television broadcaster BSkyB has extended and expanded a rights deal for the NFL American football league.
The new deal will run for five years, from 2015 until 2019.
Under the deal, Sky will broadcast more live matches than ever before. More than 80 games per season will be broadcast live to audiences in the UK via BSkyB’s Sky Sports pay-television channels.
Coverage will include the broadcast of five games each week of the regular season. This weekly coverage will comprise Thursday and Saturday night games, a Sunday double-header and the Monday Night Football programme.
The deal will also include live coverage of each playoff fixture as well as the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl showpiece end-of-season events.
In addition, Sky Sports will also broadcast live all games in the NFL International Series, during which a number of regular season NFL games take place at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
Sky Sports will also broadcast the NFL RedZone magazine programme every Sunday. Subscribers can access coverage via the broadcaster’s red button service. Additional magazine programmes will also be available throughout each season.
The broadcaster’s Sky Sports News 24-hour news channel will also broadcast a range of NFL content while the Sky Sports website will carry six episodes per week of the NFL Total access magazine programme.
Additional editorial content will also be available on the website.
