UK pay-television broadcaster BSkyB has agreed a deal with Twitter to make some of its sports content and other material available through the social networking website’s Amplify platform, according to marketing news website the Drum.
Launched in May 2013, the Amplify platform allows media companies and brands to distribute television content to audiences across Twitter.
More than 70 partners have signed up to the service, including the NFL American football league. Sky is reportedly working with the NFL as part of the partnership and is in talks with sports rights-holder to establish other content strategies for Amplify.
David Fisher, head of futures at Sky, said: “For a long time we’ve been building a very smart activation model around sponsorship and making sure that our sponsorship is multi-platform and reaching as many people as possible. If you take those sponsorships onto the online environment then Twitter Amplify is the next evolvement of that.”
