Telecommunications and pay-television operator BT has confirmed that it will be able to offer Sky Sports 1 and 2 on its YouView boxes from today (Tuesday).
BT will offer the Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 channels for £22 (€27.60/$34.22) per month or £16.50 per month for either of the channels.
The development also means that the company can stop selling its Vision Plus set-top boxes, which were previously necessary for BT customers who wanted to access Sky Sports channels.
Last month, in an interim ruling following more than four years of legal wrangling, Sky was ordered by the UK’s Competition Appeal Tribunal to offer its Sky Sports 1 and 2 channels to BT’s YouView packages.
Delia Bushell, managing director of BT TV and BT Sport, said it was a “pivotal moment for our ambitions in television.” She added: “The ability to bundle together great content on our most advanced set top box will underpin our aim to sell BT TV to more of our broadband customers and to accelerate the number of our customers who take a triple play bundle from us.”
