UK pay-television broadcaster BT Sport has enhanced its German football coverage by agreeing a deal for rights to the national team’s home friendly matches, along with the DFB Cup – the domestic club knockout competition.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it will commence with the re-run of the 2014 Fifa World Cup final, with Germany taking on Argentina on September 3. The agreement excludes games involving teams from the British Isles.
Schedule details of BT Sport’s DFB Cup coverage will be announced at a later date. Bayern Munich won last season's competition with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund after extra time.
The latest deal comes after BT Sport in February signed a two-year extension to its rights deal for the Bundesliga, the top division of German football.
The new contract starts in September 2015 and runs until 2017, granting BT Sport Bundesliga rights in the UK and Ireland.
