UK pay-television broadcaster BT Sport has retained its rights to a number of leading Women’s Tennis Association tournaments under a new three-year deal.
The deal becomes effective in January 2017 and will run until the end of 2019. BT Sport currently holds a four-year deal with the world governing body of women’s tennis which runs from 2013 to 2016.
The new agreement will grant BT Sport live rights to 52 events per year – an increase of 30 events per year on its current deal. It will also be granted digital rights to broadcast tennis clips and WTA content on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
BT Sport’s deal includes rights to showpiece WTA events in Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid and Beijing, as well as the season-ending WTA Finals in Singapore.
